Introduction
Wax Melts are one of the most popular ways to scent your home with fragrance. Fragrant melts release a subtle and sophisticated fragrance when melted in a wax melt burner burner. Rather than an overwhelming blast of fragrance, our wax melts are designed to offer a strong yet subtle and pleasant scent – it will give your home an elegant, sophisticated perfume. Learn more below about the ins and outs of Wax Melts so you can choose the perfect one for you.
What are Wax Melts? (also known as Scented Wax Tarts)
Scented wax melts are most commonly used for scenting the home
A combination of wax and fragrance oils, they make a great alternative to scented candles and oils, giving light and fragrance. Wax melts are a great way to add a warm glow to your home or office and create a lovely mood.
They come in many different scents, such as citrus, floral, wood, herbs etc. and can last for quite a long time before needing a replacement (just read our reviews!).
The benefit of a wax melt over a scented candle is the ability to change fragrance easily. Wax melts can be made from several different types of wax – but at Ashdown Botanicals we use fair-trade, sustainable coconut wax. Learn more here.
How Do Wax Melts Work?
Wax melts work by melting a ‘melt’ (about the size of a coin) of scented wax in a melter or ‘burner’ (a small dish-like container that is lit by a tealight to melt the wax). The wax is heated up, releasing fragrance oils into the air. The scent can also be released into the air by placing the melter on an electric warmer. Scents can last for several hours before any noticeable reduction. As the melted wax cools down, it hardens again and the scent gets trapped in with it. You can either wait for the wax to cool down and solidify before disposing of it, or you can heat it again at a later time to use it again. Make sure to follow our care instructions included with all scented wax tart orders.
